The following Town projects have been completed thus far this year:
• The Fire Station floor has been painted and weather stripping installed. The Town Board will be addressing repairs or replacement of the roof and insulation within the next six months.
• Two new ordinances dealing with the adult entertainment industry were passed by the Board in August.
• Fire Commission was established by the Town Board in September. Members include Roberta Kowalski, Don Wahl, Tim Kodric, Bill Johnson, and Alex Dudka. They will be responsible for the appointment of the Fire Chief, evaluating equipment, budgetary requests, and other miscellaneous items for the Volunteer Fire Department.
• All Town ditches have been brushed and mowed to improve water flow.
• Approximately 2 ½ miles of ditches will be re-trenched.
• Various new directional and caution signs have been erected throughout the Town.
• Nearly six miles of blacktopping have been completed, two miles of gravel roads have been graded, and 35 culverts have been installed to help alleviate spring flooding.
• The Town website includes Town Board meeting minutes, agendas, permits, recycling information, ordinances, town maps and Fire Department information. Check it out at www.townofpeshtigo.org.
• Election polling hours have been extended for all elections from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department had 38 fire calls in 2004. The calls included 8 grass fires, 7 vehicle crash standbys, 6 carbon monoxide/gas smells, 4 structure fires, 4 false alarms, 2 electrical wires down, 2 flooding response (pumping), 2 vehicle fires, 1 rescue assist (water rescue) and 1 mutual aid provided (barn fire).
• The Town received state grants for correcting hazardous driving areas on Flame Road and Rader Road to Shore Drive.

2004 - 2005 Recycling Information
Residents
The Town of Peshtigo Recycling Center is located at W1945 Old Peshtigo Road. The hours of operation are the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Recycling Center now accepts: Tires, appliances and air conditioners with Freon, stoves, microwaves, washers, dryers, any kind of metal including siding and soffits, televisions, automotive oil, paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, aluminum, tin, batteries, bagged garbage and yard waste. No cooking oil, anti-freeze or motor vehicles are accepted.
For safety sake, doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers.
The following minimal charges apply to Town of Peshtigo residents:
$ 1.50 for each bag of garbage
$ 1.00 per car and light truck tire
$ 6.00 per semi-tire and large farm tractor tire
$15.00 for each appliance which contains or contained Freon
$ 5.00 per television
$ 5.00 per computer (includes the printer, base, monitor, keyboard, etc.)

An attendant will be on duty to collect fees. Individuals dropping off appliances and other large items will be required to provide proof of town residency when required. Wood chips are available for pick-up at the site.
Town residents using burn barrels to dispose of household garbage are reminded that only the materials that are allowed to be open burned namely, leaves, plant clippings, paper and cardboard are to be burned. Plastics, asphalt, rubber and other man-made materials generate hazardous air pollutants and should not be burned in a burn barrel. All violators burning any hazardous air pollutants will be fined by the DNR.
Burn permits are available at the Peshtigo Town Hall.
The Town of Peshtigo has an ordinance regarding roadside dumping with a $100 reward after arrest and conviction. Should you see someone dumping along the roadside take their license plate number and call the Town Hall at 582-4332.
