Town residents using burn barrels to dispose of household garbage are reminded that only the materials that are allowed to be open burned, namely: leaves, plant clippings, paper and cardboard are to be burned. Plastics, asphalt, rubber and other man-made materials generate hazardous air pollutants and should not be burned in a burn barrel. Residents doing so may be fined by the WDNR.  An annual Burning Permit is required for burn barrel use.
