Minutes of the Town of Peshtigo Annual Meeting April 11, 2006

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by chairperson Ed Sedor. There were 18 Town residents in attendance. (See poll sheet)

 

Motion by Richard Seils and Second by Pat Ravet to approve the minutes of the 2005 annual meeting. Motion carried with unanimous vote.

 

Treasurer report was given by Vilas Schroeder. Motion by Karen Sylvester and second by Don Pazynski to approve the treasurers report. Motion carried on a voice vote.

 

Town Chairperson Report:

 

Town of Peshtigo Recycling Center has extended hours

Town of Peshtigo received grant money based on recyclables collected.

Timber cutting at Recycling Center is complete and check received from Franks Lumber for the timber.

New fire numbers are available from clerk, replacement fee of $15.00 for a new number with numbers visible on both sides.

Ad Hoc Drainage Committee has begun looking at needs and old drainage information. Dick Seils has completed background work and committee, with Jim Devcich Chairperson, will begin work on recommendations.

Rabies and licensing  of dogs – Reminder, State of Wisconsin required by statue on annual dog license and up to date inoculations.

National Incident Management System Training (NIMS) was initiated with two supervisors, chairperson and fire men completing the course.

Approximately 5 miles of town roads were resurfaced with ¾ mile shared with the Town of Little River.

Over 2 miles of road ditching were cleaned to facilitate drainage of road surfaces and road beds. We have almost 20 miles of new paved road surfaces and 2006 will look at 5 – 6 miles of additional resurfacing.

Mandated Voter Registration began in 2006. Along with this for the Town of Peshtigo, the Town has become a provider, entering data for voter registration for the Town and Village of Pound, Town of Porterfield, Town of Grover and Village of Coleman.

For the 2006 fall election, all voting sites will have a mandate, a HAVA voting machine in place, to assist persons with disabilities and handicaps, State assistance will pay for the machine.

The Municipal Court agreement has been completed  and after final details are completed, the court 3will commence, target date of April 15, 06.

The Town of Peshtigo and City of Peshtigo have completed the work on planning and setting targets and goals for future growth and development guidelines for the next 20 years. The final draft, after review by the Planning Commission, will be open for public inspection.

Thank you for the donation of $5,000.00 to the Town of Peshtigo Fire Department from Badger Paper Mill Local 2-0227, United Steel Workers, formerly PACE Paper Allied Chemical and Energy Workers Union.

Complete Code of Ordinance update.

 

Roads planned for 2006 – Rader Road, Lietzow, portions of Old Peshtigo, Green Gable, Country Meadows and gravel on some of the Towns gravel roads.

 

 Open floor items: Dave Thibodeau stated that Johnson bridge should be only a foot bridge.

 Herman Pottratz stated the Town should look into getting rid of the old landfills. Donate them to the DNR.

Herman Pottratz made a motion to look into getting rid of the sites. Second by Rich Seils. Motion carried on a unanimous vote.

 

The Town Budget meeting is set for November 14, 2006.

 

Motion by Herman Pottratz to authorize the Town Board to spend up to $6,000.00 per mile on town roads.

Second by Dick Seils. Motion carried with unanimous voice vote.
