Minutes of the April 13, 2004 Annual meeting:

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by chairperson Herman Pottratz.

 

Town chairperson Herman Pottratz gave his report on what was accomplished in 2003.

 

TOWN OF PESHTIGO COMPLETED PROJECTS FOR 2003

 

1.                   Most Town of Peshtigo ditches were cleaned and brushed.

2.                   Toilets were placed in Thompson Park and the park area has been cleaned.

3.                   New roof was installed on the dog kennel.

4.                   Recycling Center is now open on Wednesday afternoon and now accepts TV’s, computers, air conditioners with freon, stoves, microwaves, washers, dryers, tires, batteries, and tin, however there is a charge for these items.

5.                   Two newsletters have been produced to inform the public on town projects.

6.                   Revaluation of the Town of Peshtigo was completed and the tax rate lowered to 85 cents per thousand.  Our total tax rate is the lowest in the county compared to $14.41 in Peshtigo and $16.62 in Marinette.

7.                   Swimming pool fencing and pond ordinances have been adopted.

8.                   Ag 2 area developed to allow houses on 1 ½ acres and 5 acres for any farm animals.

9.                   Grants have been approved for Flame Road and the hazardous ditch project on Radar Road is complete.

10.               Village powers were adopted.

11.               Coastal Management Grant with the City of Peshtigo has been approved.

12.               New generator has been installed and wiring has been updated.

13.               Air conditioning will be installed next month.

14.               A safety guardrail was installed on Rehms Road.

15.               A new and more efficient furnace has been installed.

16.               An office assistant has been hired.

17.               The Town of Peshtigo’s website is operational.  Address is www.townofpeshtigo.com.

 

PROJECTED PROJECTS FOR 2004 – 2005

 

1.                   Will be working with the City of Peshtigo on the Comprehensive Plan.

2.                   Will try to establish a boundary agreement with Marinette.

3.                   Will try to work with Marinette on sharing a Municipal Judge.

4.                   Ditches will have to be cleaned and grades developed so the roads will drain.

5.                   Shore Drive land has to be developed into walking trails

 

Sale of Surplus Property and Equipment:  A large amount of discussion pertaining to the sale of property along the former Buchman Road took place. A motion by Gordon Wicklund to sell the surplus property along the former Buchman Road and surplus town equipment that the Town Board would deem as not needed.. Second by Richard Seils. Motion failed with 16 yes and 21 no votes.

 

Motion by Mrs Buchman to split the question on surplus property and surplus equipment. Second by Karen Sylvester. Motion carried with 31 yes and 6 no votes.

 

Motion by Richard Seils to authorize Town Board to dispose of the real estate off Rader Road. Second by Karen Sylvester. Motion carried with 29 yes and 9 no votes.

 

Transfer $100,000.00 Dollars: Motion by Willie Price to transfer $100,000.00 from savings to Roads and Ditches ($50,000.00) each. Second by Joe Wilke. Motion carried with 30 yes and 7 no votes.
